Alpine Academy Driver Abbi Pulling was selected to drive for Nissan for the first ever All-Women FIA Sanctioned Test.
It was a brand new experience for Abbi, as she had never driven the Jarama Circuit or an FIA Formula E car even in a simulator prior to be announced for the test in October.
After a successful build up in the simulator with the team and spending Thursday at the circuit learning about the new for Season 11 Gen 3 EVO car, Abbi hit the track on Friday afternoon.
The F1 Academy Championship leader wasted no-time in getting up to speed, setting the 2nd fastest time in the opening hour - before jumping to the head of the times half way through the session.
In the final hour, she set a lap time of 1:30.889s – ‘pulling’ out her advantage further at the top of the times, which was unable to be matched for the remainder of the session.
Abbi set the pace by 0.320s from her nearest rival as the chequered flag fell and she was the only driver to set a time within the 91 second bracket.
She completed a total of 39 laps and 150.15km for Nissan, as testing at Jarama was brought to a close.
Abbi Pulling:
“It was a really exciting session, and felt amazing to put what I’ve learned in the simulator into real life and to experience the thrill of driving a Nissan Formula E car.
The lap times were strong which is very pleasing, I think there was more time to extract at the peak of the tire, but overall I’m happy with the performance.
The whole team was great, explaining everything to me and answering any questions I had, so a big thanks to them. I’m delighted to have helped Nissan Formula E Team in the build up to the new season and I hope to have another opportunity to drive the car in the future!”
Abbi will be back on track in just two-weeks time at the Lusail Circuit in Qatar, from the penultimate round of the F1 Academy Championship.
She currently leads the championship by 95-points over her nearest rival heading in the tail end of the 2024 season.
